Chau Doc in An Giang province is a small but busy town on the west bank of the Hau river. Head south west from Chau Doc; within about 5km there is the holy Sam Mountain, with a complex of temples and pagodas, including the Nguyen dynasty Tay An pagoda, lady Chua Xu, temple and the tomb of Thoai Ngoc Hau.
