The name Nghe An appeared in 1036 under the reign of Ly Thai Tong, replacing the name Hoan Chau. Nghe An is known for its traditional thirst for study, many family names, famous study villages. It is the cradle of national and world cultural activists and scientists. Nghe An has Vinh City, the administrative centre of the province, Kim Lien Village, Ho Chi Minh’s hometown, Cua Lo Beach and Cuong temple, in Dien Chau District.
